When our daughter was younger, we brought along everything necessary to ensure a restful night for her while traveling. For a couple of years, this meant bringing her doll, Gina, along with us. I reckon at the time she stopped traveling, Gina had been to more countries than most Americans.
On one trip to HoiAn, Vietnam, Elisa picked out a traditional hat to buy. When we saw they came doll-sized, of course we had to get one for Gina too.
I caught this sweet moment between Elisa and Gina one afternoon in our hotel room. Elisa was telling her a story about something now long forgotten. My daughter has now outgrown her baby doll, and of course it is much more convenient to leave Gina at home. Still, when I look at this photo, it’s hard not to feel sentimental about time passing much too quickly.
