It’s no Kim Kardashian: Hollywood but Smarty Pins from Google Maps is addicting. It’s a geography trivia game that you can play on your desktop or the Google Maps app on your phone. Addicting, fun and, sorry Kim, educational.
Smarty Pins asks a series of questions and allows you to drop a pin to answer. Players begin the game with 1,000 miles and lose miles as they incorrectly guess locations. Every mile that your pin is away from the location is deducted from the 1,000 miles. If you’re geographically gifted, you can answer the question in less than 15 seconds for bonus miles.
You won’t learn how to take a selfie or earn points by hooking up with celebrities but you might learn that the Chrysler Building is 1,046 feet tall and that Wayne Gretzky started his career in Edmonton, Canada. Okay, if you are a sports fan you probably already knew that about Mr. Gretzky BUT now you know you too could play this game well.
Perfect for roadtrips, collecting fun facts or the next time you find yourself watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Smarty Pins is an awesome time-suck that won’t make you feel bad about yourself.
Happy playing,
