About Kristen Gill - Adventure Gill

Kristen Gill is an adventure traveler and photographer who enjoys hiking, snowboarding, kayaking, sailing, paragliding, surfing, backpacking, and anything else you throw her way! She also enjoys discovering new cultures, while reveling in their unique food, drink, sports, and traditions.

She became addicted to travel from the moment she made her first trans-Atlantic flight to Ireland at the age of 16, to compete in the World Championships of Irish Dance. Since then she has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Her award-winning travel photography has been featured in exhibits in London, New York, Seattle, and online, and has been recognized by such names as the Tate Gallery in London, Magnum Photos in New York, and Contrasto in Italy.

"My vision is to examine photography's place in contemporary culture, as well as explore its possibilities for social change. I have slept in caves in remote forests in Brazil, lived with hill tribes in northern Vietnam, laughed with the Irish over pints of Guinness, and documented street protests in Spain and Argentina. My approach with photography is to capture diverse cultures, but also to find the commonality between people."

She has travelled to 40+ countries and counting, and holds citizenship in both Ireland and the U.S. She holds a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in both English Literature and Humanities. Born and raised in Chicago, Kristen has lived in Dublin, Ireland, and New York City, but now enjoys Seattle as a home base.

An active member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and the Outdoor Industries Women's Coalition (OIWC), Kristen has many connections in the adventure travel arena, so feel free to ask her any questions!
