The NGO I volunteer with focuses on education, advocacy, and organizing for vulnerable and disadvantaged women in the slums of Chennai and surrounding communities.  One of their target groups is adolescent girls.  And one of the ways they get the word out is through public street performances of dance, drama, and singing.   Love …

Photo Friday: Ticking Shrine?

The memorial for Dr. M.G. Ramachandran is located at one end of Chennai’s beatuful Marina Beach on the Bay of Bengal.  Ramachandran was a beloved film star before he became Chief Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu in South India.

His memorial is quite beautiful and was crowded with pilgrims….
