Bhutan Books

August 15th, 2007

In preparation for my trip to Bhutan in April, I’ve been accumulating books for the trip. Even though my pile of travel-related reading materials is stacked high already, I can’t wait to dive into these as well. Here’s what I’ve got:

The Lonely Planet Guide to Bhutan

Bhutan: Himalayan Mountain Kingdom by Francoise Pommaret

Beyond the Sky and the Earth: A Journey into Bhutan by Jamie Zeppa

Bhutan Books

I was introduced via email with Francoise a couple of months ago. She lives in Bhutan and has quite a CV. According to her publisher’s websites, she’s a Tibetologist, lecturer, writer and is currently a research fellow at National Center for Scientific Research in France. Can’t wait to meet her.

If you’re interested in Bhutan yourself, consider joining the tour I’m leading!

Happy Travels!

Bhutan is the easiest country to visit. I took my daughter (21) and went from the west to the east. You cannot get lost…You feel very safe and it is the best country for any woman to visit..alone or with another. Trekking is well organized, cultural explorations dead easy. Nature is breath taking.
Buddhism and the people are one and in peace.
People are nice, sweet and respectful of eachother and to any foreigner. It is almost a fairy tale country where peace and respect for nature rubs off on any foreigner. I also went in april….unbelievable!

While you’re checking out books, you might check out this new one on Bhutan– “Dreaming of Prayer Flags.” It’s not even available from amazon.com yet, I got mine from the website: www.prayerflagsbook.com.

Have a great trip!
