Hello, Wanderluster!
I know a lot of you have been waiting for this news! Both the Seattle and Santa Fe tours are finalized and ready for registration. With about 50 of you requesting early notification, we expect these to sell out pretty quickly. Interested? Don’t wait!
Last month I told you about our two new tours – the North India Culinary Tour and the Thailand and Laos Hill Tribe Tour. Both are already starting to fill so don’t delay in registering for those, either.
In traveling news… I’ve got some this month. I’ll be in New Orleans researching a culinary tour (email me if you’d like to be on that waitlist), and then Kansas City where I’ll be speaking at Backwoods on the 26th. In the area? Stop by! Expedia is sponsoring the event and you’ll get a free copy of The Essential Guide for Women Traveling Solo.
Speaking of Expedia, they will once again be sponsoring our WanderWomen Write Travel Writing Contest which launches in October! Stay tuned for details. And if you’re interested in contributing now, see how you can Write for Us.
Pssst, don’t forget to Like us on Facebook >>>>

Wander Recommendations
On the Bookshelf
Adrift: Seventy-six Days Lost at Sea by Steven Callahan
An accidental adventure (no one wants to be lost at sea for 76 days!), this is a superb book that captures the author’s harrowing survival at sea. I read this ages ago but it’s burned into my memory as one of the greatest travel stories ever. Definitely not something for which to aspire.
In the iPod
The Sahara Lessons by Etran Finatawa
Recorded in the desert under a tent, this is the latest release from the group Etran Finatawa. The group includes musicians from both Toureg and Wodaabe tribes and this CD blends traditional and western instruments. I adore the complicated rhythms of African music and really love the blend of guitar and drumming on this one. These guys are the real deal…
In the DVD
The American with George Clooney
Speaking of adore! Where was I when this came out in the theaters? Dunno. But this is a great film starring (deep breath) George Clooney as an American living on the lam in the Italian countryside. He picks up work doing what he does best (you’ll see what that is – I don’t want to tell you!) and finds true love (sigh) along the way. Clooney. Italy. Winner.
