Greetings, Wanderluster!
As you read this, I am somewhere in Bhutan hiking the final days of the Snowman Trek. Whatever challenges and wins I meet along the way, I can’t wait to share them with you when I return to the online world in late October.
A ginormous thank you to our sponsors Expedia and XShot for making it possible for us to have a videographer join us so we’ll have video to share with you. These sponsors have also made it possible for us to continue our support of RENEW, an organization that helps women of domestic violence throughout Bhutan.
Speaking of donations, I’m in the process of setting up the WanderWorld Foundation. This will be a non-profit that supports organizations, such as RENEW, that we visit during our tours. You’ll soon have a way to help us support these programs!
If you’re interested in staying updated on my whereabouts and experiences, I’m most active on Facebook, so please friend me there.
Til late October…Be Bold.

A Splendid Isolation: Lessons on Happiness from the Kingdom of Bhutan
by Madeline Drexler
There really are so few books available about Bhutan that I was thrilled to see this new book out by an award-winning journalist. As a professional journalist, Madeline has some keen observations about the country and includes interviews with people from around the country. A great read and primer for anyone interested in visiting the land of Gross National Happiness.

Rough Guide to Flamenco Guitar
Gosh dang it, I just love the guitar. Especially Flamenco, Spanish and Classical. This Rough Guide to Flamenco is a great roundup of talented players. Though I can’t claim to be familiar with any of them, that doesn’t matter. It’s a beautiful CD that will transport you immediately to Andalusia, Spain. playing. This definitely has the sound of West Africa but with a bit of a twist.
In the DVD
Her with Joachin Phoenix–I know, not travel-related (unless you include a trip to the future). But I was so blown away by this movie that I had to take this opportunity and insist you see it. It’s the story of a man who falls in love with the voice of his operating system. The movie is done so well you can really believe that this is our future. I really think we are closer than we realize.

Julbo Mountaineering Sunglasses
Julbo specializes in mountaineering sunglasses. These are important because at altitude (where I am now) eyes are particularly susceptible to damage by the sun and reflection. These Explorers are my faithful companions on the Snowman Trek. Read more here…
