Hello, Wanderluster!
Where’ve I been you ask? This time, I’ve just returned from Bhutan (with a super fab group of ladies) and Bali, where I was researching a tour for fall, 2015. Interested in Bali? Lemme know because we’re already taking names for that trip.
While on Bali, Jon and I hiked Mt. Batur (5,600 feet). This was more prep for the Snowman Trek this fall. While it won’t be the 18,0000 feet we’ll hit on the trek, it was still a good primer for that little adventure.
As you may know, the trek is sponsored by XShot and Expedia. But did you know we’ll be raising funds for RENEW, an organization in Bhutan that supports women of domestic violence?Â
In other tour news… we had a last minute cancellation on the Seattle Culinary Tour and now have one coveted spot open. Interested? Register right away.

The Unconquered: In Search of the Amazon’s Last Uncontacted Tribes
by Scott Wallace
This is the true story of traveling deep into the Amazon to connect with one of the world’s last uncontacted tribes. I’ve always had a fantasy about doing this myself but, for many reasons, this book may have put that desire to rest. A great adventure read even if the Amazon isn’t on your list.

In the iPod
Kali City by Karim BaggiliÂ
You wouldn’t guess this incredibly talented oud and guitar player is self taught, but he is. A Belgian with Jordanian and Yugoslavian roots, Karim blends flamenco with Arabic influences. It’s one of the most unique mixes of guitar playing I’ve heard in many years.
In the DVD
Yogawoman Â
This video (narrated by Annette Benning), takes a look at yoga through the eyes of women around the world. It’s an interesting documentary but I came away thinking that the benefits of yoga could be had from meditation or other forms of exercise. In other words, it never answered my question as to why yoga is so good for us. Still, worth your time.
WanderGear Review
Chaco ReversiFlip Flip Flops
I went ga-ga over these when I first saw them at the Outdoor Retailer Show last year. Not only do I love a pair of shoes that I can just slip on to run out the door, but I love the fact that I can turn one pair of shoes into several by changing out the interchangeable webs straps. Read more here…
