Happy summer, Wanderluster!
Have you seen our new Be Bold logo? The Wanderlust and Lipstick team challenges you to think in Bold new ways. What are you afraid to do? Let’s kick that fear in the pants and make it happen. In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, “We must do the thing we think we cannot do.”
With that in mind, we have many things brewing in our world…
If you’re up for the adventure of a lifetime, we’ve got just two spots open on our Papua New Guinea Mt. Hagen Show Tour this August. One for a female and one for a male. Consider this your last call for an absolutely fantastical journey (and truly a chance to Be Bold!).
In other tour news… register by the end of June for the North India Culinary Tour in November and you’ll receive a copy of Madhur Jaffrey’s Indian Cooking book. You’ll be able to test some recipes and then try the real deal in India. What a bonus! See more details here.

Wander Recommendations
On the Bookshelf
Roadfood by Jane and Michael Stern
Tis the season to hit the highway for a road trip! Put down the iPhone and grab this book for suggestions from Jane and Michael Stern who regularly provide commentary on The Splendid Table. I’ve personally found some really interesting and definitely off-the-beaten-path places based on their recommendations (like a diner in Alabama where my rather large lunch couldn’t have cost more than $6). Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
In the iPod
Matangi by M.I.A.
I don’t know exactly what it is but I really like M.I.A., a British-Sri Lankan rapper/singer. I think it’s because of her totally rebellious ways and that she rocks out like no other singer I know. Matangi is, like her other CDs, political, controversial, offbeat, strange and awesome. This may not be for everyone, but M.I.A. fans will LOVE it.                                          Â
In the DVD
Mile Mile and a Half
IÂ was totally attracted to this movie because it’s about a group that hikes the John Muir trail–219 miles, 25 days–not unlike my upcoming Snowman Trek in Bhutan. Though the documentary is done well, it could have used a bit more of a theme or storyline. In other words no one gets kicked off the island 🙂 Still a very worthy watch. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
WanderGear Review
Canada Goose Ridge Shell
After testing several shells, I’m convinced this one is going to work best for me in the Himalayas during our Snowman Trek in September. It’s waterproof yet breathable, and has a lot of bells and whistles that make it a great hiking jacket. Read more here…
