Ho Ho Ho, Wanderluster!
I do so love this time of year! We have neighbors who go all out with their Christmas lights and I just love walking the ‘hood to take it all in. So, a very enthusiastic Seasons Greetings to you and your family wherever you are spending the holidays.
Though I haven’t had any overseas trips in awhile, I have most recently spent time on the Oregon Coast and Northern California. I’ll be spending the holidays on the east coast (yay pizza!) with family and then will head to Salt Lake City for my bi-annual trip to the Outdoor Retailer Show where I source new travel and outdoor products to review.
If you want to share your latest travels, please join our new Facebook Group. This is a place for you to ask questions and share information with other women travelers.

Maggie Langeness – Eventful Wanderings
Maggie has always been in search of the best festivals. Coming from a small town in Wisconsin, she knew she wanted to get out and see more of the world. Now, she works as a travel agent in San Diego where she helps people find the most economical ways to travel. Maggie is very passionate about helping others get a chance to see the world and understanding that you don’t need to be a millionaire to travel. Her favorite festivals thus far have been Oktoberfest and Burning Man. Follow her festival recommendations on Eventful Wanderings.
Kelli Mutchler – Gone Workabout
Kelli left a small, midwest American town to prove that Yanks can, and do, choose alternative lifestyles. Desperate to challenge this stereotype, Kelli has served over 10,000 pints of foreign beer; played the organ at five funerals; participated in two motorcycle rallies and plunged too many clogged toilets. After working with Burmese refugees in Thailand, she decided to pursue an MA in Global Development and is, naturally, getting distracted (and paid) along the road back to school. She believes opportunities for international work and volunteer travel are as common as corncobs in her native South Dakota: surrounding us in every direction. Follow her work and volunteer travels in Gone Workabout.
On the Bookshelf
Passage to Burma by Scott Stulberg
The images for this book were shot over ten years during multiple pilgrimages to Burma. On one hand so much has changed in ten years but in some ways nothing has changed. This book is filled with stunning (and timeless) imagery that will make you want to go to Burma now in order to capture the country yourself – before too much really does change.

Guitar Tango: Mas Alla
One of those little-known facts about me is that I studied classical guitar for a bit. And I’m a total sucker for this instrument. Alvarado is considered to be one of Argentina’s greatest tango singers (and he’s kinda hot, too) while Avilano is a master at the guitar. It makes me want to pick up my beautiful rosewood again.
In the DVD
The Highest Pass with Anand Mehrotra and Adam Schomer
While the story and plot are a bit thin, this IS an adventure story sure to capture the interest of motorcyclists, spiritual seekers, Indiaphiles and adventurers. Travel with this group over the highest motorable road in the world located in Northern India as they make their way through snow, traffic and yoga.
WanderGear Review
Osprey Ozone Convertible Bag
So versatile, this is a two-wheeled bag that has hidden straps in the back so you can carry it as a backpack as well as a zip-off daypack that attaches to the front. Despite all the features, the bag is lightweight and durable. Read more…
