I know. For most people it might be a tad late in the year to be talking about flip flops. But I just discovered these at the Outdoor Retailer Show in August and I know there will be many of you traveling this winter to a warm weather destination. So listen up.
I instantly loved the OluKai Paniolo sandals because of the footbed. See that stitching? Such detail.
But they wear well, too.
I’ve been on longish walks with these and they are pretty comfortable – even in the first few wears. Flip flops are never my go-to shoe for power walks so I have to remember that with these on, I just won’t be walking fast.
But these are definitely great for shorter walks or runs to the grocery store. And I cannot wait to travel with these this winter.
What I Love
- The stitching and detail on the strap
- For a flip flop, these are really upscale and can be worn out to a nice restaurant
Not So Much
- The footbed is stiffer than what I’m used to with a flip flop (though I admit with more wearing I would expect this to loosen up a bit)
- When I first slip them on, I can feel the stitching on my foot but I generally forget about it after a few minutes
All in all I’d have to say the Paniolos from OluKai are probably the prettiest flip flops/sandals I own. They will not be packed away this fall with my other summer shoes – instead, I’m going to keep them at the ready for a winter getaway to… Mexico? Hawaii? We’ll see.
