No way can I call myself a full-on vegan, but I definitely lean that way in terms of my eating habits. I do know that there are hard-core vegans out there (I’m not sure, but I think the majority of them live in Portlandia) who won’t wear a clothing product that is derived from an animal.
I’m not that strict, but I do LIKE the fact that I can say a particular item is vegan, like the Dansko Vegan Pro Clogs.
These vegan Danskos share the same construction as the original Danskos that I know and love so I can wear these all day and feel like I’m getting all the same comfort. (I hear that flight attendants and nurses are particularly fond of Danskos for this reason.) Comfort aside, there is something to be said for not harming an animal in the process.
The shoes above are indeed made of flannel, which means that Dansko can do some fun things with patterns and styles. But their vegan line also includes canvas, so you can have some slick colors such as black, off-white and ones with vines and flowers (right).
I’ve always liked Dansko shoes because I can go to a trade show and walk around without having sore feet by lunch. Plus, being on the short side, I kinda like the extra height these give me 🙂
The vegan versions come in some really fun colors on Amazon starting at just $65.
Travel Well,
Beth
