I first came across Aventura at the Outdoor Retailer show a number of years ago. I was struck by the company’s ability to create feminine styling in clothes that are perfect for travel yet they lean heavily toward being eco-friendly (80% of their clothing is made from environmentally friendly fabrics including organic cotton, bamboo and recycled polyester).
My trip to Hawaii was the first time that I got to test out some of their clothing. And I think my favorite of the 3 items I tested are the Arden capris (left).
I like these so much because they simply fit me well. These are considered “standard rise” meaning they fit a few inches below the waist. Even so, they don’t feel like they are falling off, like some lower sitting pants might.
The bottoms roll up and allow you to button them at varying lengths, making for a nice option on warmer days – though mosquitoes still found me in Hawaii even when these were fully extended.
Despite that, I find having some flexibility with length particularly useful when traveling to a warm region where showing your legs may not be appropriate – in India or a temple in Bangkok. While your lower legs are still exposed, when it’s safe, you can then roll them up to have a bit more coolness.
These have decorative stitching front and back which makes for a lovely accent and the back pockets button shut.

The Florapestry Burnout Tank is a definite winner in warm weather. I love the layered flowers and the crossover neckline.
The wide straps at the top mean you don’t have to worry about your bra straps showing. And, while the bottom is a bit billowy (relaxed fit, as they say), I didn’t feel like it was too flowing.
Loved having it in Hawaii but I can’t wait to wear this in Bangkok next week!

Finally, their Sierra Organic Cotton Scarf is adorable. I admit that I have a lot of scarves – ones that I’ve picked up in India, Bhutan and Burma. But a gal can never have too many, right?
There are a couple of things that I particularly like about this one. First, it’s rather small and thin so it packs up well. That also means that underneath a light jacket it isn’t bulging out like some of my heavier scarves.
Second it’s accented with embroidered flowers. My other scarves are a silk blend and while they are nice and soft, they aren’t adorned with any extras. Nice touch, Aventura.

The Aventura pieces look great. It reminds me of Patagonia, which has always been a favorite of mine for outdoor wear. Anytime you’re in the midst of serious humidity, this sort of wicking fashion works well. And it’s nice that they make such, cute trendy looking items. Spending the day getting wet and sweaty shouldn’t mean you can’t wear something styling!

I too love the Aventura clothes. Comment #1 Liz mentioned wicking fashion, so I wanted to say that Aventura also has capris, board shorts & skirts called Hadyn that are made of Recycled Polyester, cute & perfect for humid weather. I put them over my swimsuit, & they dry so fast, & don’t wrinkle.
