Photo of the Day: Balinese Rice Fields

Perhaps it’s the winter weather or the slow move into spring, but Bali has come up a lot recently in conversation with friends. A couple people I know have just returned and there are others who’ve shared stories about their bike trips around the island.
I was there many moons ago myself and always joke that I got “stuck” there for 8 days. I had a flex plane ticket without a fixed departure date and ended up staying in Ubud during that week, exploring the region around there.
Pure heaven.

The only time I visited Bali was 1999, oh so different and less commerical but I remember the rice paddies.Somethings stay the same despite tourism thank goodness.
I want to go to Bali so badly! I think it’s in the cards in the next 2 years.
lovely – i so want to go, as well.
It really is a BEAUTIFUL place. Hope you all get “stuck” there!
These rice fields are so much more picturesque than the ones I saw in Arkansas, f’sure!
Love how the terracing the imagined line-of-vision from the person draw your eyes to the building.
Beatiful green landscape- my image of Bali is only of beaches
A ricefield in Bali, a ricefield in the Philippines, or one in China. I’m not saying they all look the same, but for some reason this simple scene is always captivating.
Love Bali! Spent a month there this winter. This was my second time, and
I enjoyed it more than the first. Ubud is amazing.
I have a special place in my heart for Ubud, Bali. My husband proposed to me in a Balinese garden set amongst rice paddies.
So pretty. I agree with Heather. I have only seen beach pictures. I have never thought of Bali as anything other than a fabulous beach destination.
