This year, Passports with Purpose (of which I’m a co-founder), has a goal of $50,000 to build a village in Southern India. Krishnammal Jagannathan (pictured left) and her husband are the founders of LAFTI (Land for Tillers Freedom) based in Southern India. They help the dalits (India’s lowest caste) in numerous ways. One such way is by building homes for formerly landless families. PwP has chosen LAFTI as this year’s recipient of our annual fundraiser!
PwP plans to build an entire community for the dalits. We will reach that goal through the incredible generosity of our sponsors AND through $10 donations made by readers of the 100+ bloggers who are involved in this year’s fundraiser.
The truth of the matter is that every $10 gets us closer to our goal and you can be a part of our effort and help change the lives of an entire community in Southern India.
Here’s how it works…
1) You pop on over to the Passports with Purpose site.
2) You choose your top picks(s) from a list of prizes.
3) You make a donation, in $10 increments, and choose a prize for each $10 donated.
It’s pretty simple and relatively painless.
There are a lot of prizes this year donated from companies located around the world. Take a gander through them all, make some choices and then come back (the fundraiser runs through December 13) when you’ve realized you can make a donation and potentially win a prize that would make a fabulous holiday gift!
Here’s my prize that was generously donated by Hotel 1000 in Seattle:
* One overnight stay in a Luxe guest room at Hotel 1000 in Seattle
* One Spaahh treatment of your choice
* Indoor golf for 2 hours for up to 40 people including $50 in food and beverage
Total value is $850!
Located in the heart of downtown Seattle, this would be an ideal Staycation for Seattle-area folks OR a wonderful treat for someone visiting the city.
OK, now have it. Help us build that village in India!
Oh, and a big thank you to our sponsors who include:
