Wooden Buddha

Practiced by perhaps 230 to 500 million people around the world, Buddhism is based on the premise that sentient beings can be released from the cycle of suffering through rebirth (be nice, don’t come back as an ant!). These statues represent numerous ways that Buddha is represented in a variety of cultures.

Golden Buddha Bangkok

The above was taken at a temple in Bangkok.

This is also in Thailand but at the ancient temple complex at Ayuthaya.

India Sarnath Buddha Statue

Though India is primarily a Hindu country, many people do practice Buddhism as well, it’s thought nearly 4 million.

Buddha Painting in Bhutan

95% of Bhutan’s residents practice Buddhism. The photo above is a painting on a rock wall in the countryside.

Buddha in Las Vegas

It’s highly unlikely that Vegas has many practitioners. None the less, you might come across such a neon sign in your wanderings around sin city.
