		<description>On the batteries issue.. you could of course just buy rechargeable AA batteries. I make a point of only buying those these days. 

Another big point: choose which businesses you support. If you come across ones that are doing the right thing by the environment, then take your business there. This sends a clear message that you care about these issues and other businesses will follow suit. Research which hotels / hostels to stay in and choose the ones that cater to your environmental desires.</description>

It&#039;s amazing to me how much bottled water even supposedly enlightened travelers will buy and go through on a weekly basis, even when they know there&#039;s no local means to recycle all that plastic. It&#039;s deplorable. Carry a purifier, carry a reusable shopping bag, buy beer and soda in returnable bottles. Those three things alone will cut your waste by 2/3.</description>
