Photo of the Day: Kids in Vietnam

Wanderlust and Lipstick: Traveling with Kids, is well on its way to being completed. My world over the last couple of months has been steeped in the what a mom can do with her kids while on the road. But what about the children AT a destination?
The young kids in this photo lived in a remove Montagnard village in Vietnam’s Central Highlands. Like the woman I featured last week (as part of Delicious Baby’s Photo Friday), the older child here, as poor as she looks, seems to glow and bubble up with laughter. No videogames or TV in this village. Only a community of loving extended family. Their lives may not totally be without want, but you can’t help speculate on their level of happiness.

Great shot.
this reminds me of how the kids in Cambodia could turn almost anything into a toy. A string tied to an old water bottle? Perfect, pull it along and the other kids will chase!
You know, I never even noticed that these kids were poor until I read the post. All I saw was the joy sprouting from their little faces. They look happy and content.
That’s a great shot – such happiness in the expressions
Love this shot! Especially the sense of scale with the little baby on the back
