The Easy Way to Get Married

And you thought finding a mate, no a husband, was difficult. India has it all figured out.

In a country where arranged marriages are still quite common and the internet is taking off, all you need to do is log on to Simplymarry.com to get hitched.

Of course there are astrologers to consult and families to meet, but it’s true that the internet has opened up a world of opportunities to men and women in finding their life partners.

The ads for Simplymarry caught my eye in the Times of India because they are so cheeky. One showed a portrait of an available groom, a curly mustachioed, debonair actor-type. The ad said “Groom Wanted: independent, brave, ambitious & religious. Being famous will be an added advantage.”

Behind all this fun, the site is quite popular and the more savvy Indians definitely use these types of services to find their husbands and wives.

One friend of ours from Seattle has come back to India to help his 36 year old sister get married. He explained that since she’s the oldest, it’s custom for her to get married before the two younger brothers can get married. And even more important because she’s female. If she had been born between the two sons, it would still have been custom for her to get married first. Online services are one of the methods that they will use to help her find her mate.

As the Simplymarry tag line states: It’s the easy way to get married.

Happy Travels!
