The last week + has been a whirlwind of holiday celebrations in Seattle with Jon, travels to NJ for more holiday happenings with the family, and preparation for my month-long trip to India. To say the least, my nerves have been a little frayed.
Intellectually I know that as long as I have my passport (and visa) and access to both cash and my flight details, then everything is fine. However, I find myself constantly going through mental lists of what I have and have not yet packed and what I have and have not yet completed from my task list.
For that reason, my holidays felt a little splintered as I tried to enjoy time with family, yet always had my list in my pocket, crossing off my completed items and adding the new items that I just remembered.
As always during my trips to the east coast, the journey is not only about family, but about the food. I had all the regular goodies: pizza, eggplant parm sandwich, bialys and bagels with cream cheese, fried ravioli and my brother’s famous shrimp scampi. I managed to wrap up the visit still fitting into my jeans, thank goodness.
Now it’s off to India. Making my lists, checking it (more than) twice and hoping that whatever it is that I do forget (because I will forget something) that I can easily buy it or deal with it (in the case of any unfinished work) once I’m on the road.
Happy Travels!
