When I spoke in Eugene the other night, that gal that shared the “stage” with me was a young(er) traveler named Jude. She had some great tips to share and one of the things that she said was that she loves to book her flights early so that she knows that she’s going and then can start making plans.
Me? I like to make lots of plans and end up booking flights after many other things are checked off my list. I get so NERVOUS booking flights because “What if something comes up and I have to turn down a party invitation because I’m flying out the day before?” or “What if I book the wrong dates by accident?” or “What if the cost goes down?” or “What if Ewan McGregor comes through Seattle on his next motorcycle adventure and I’m out of town???”
Inspired by Jude’s gung-ho-book-that-ticket speech, I just booked two tickets to India for late December. Jon’s Aunt Sally will be accompanying me on the early part of the trip and then I’ll stay on to travel around to finalize research for my next book, Wanderlust and Lipstick: For Women Traveling to India.
Finally, that task is off of my list. We depart on December 27th. Sally returns on January 11th and myself on January 22nd.
But now I can’t help thinking… “What if I get invited to a not-to-be-missed New Year’s Eve party?” (Me, who can’t stay awake past 10:15).
Happy Travels!
