I received an email from Northwest Airlines announcing flights to London, Frankfurt and Paris for as low as $219 each way from anywhere in the contiguous U.S. I was intrigued so I followed the instructions to see what the actual fair would be.

After numerous attempts at filling out their online form, I received messages that I wasn’t filling out all the info correctly… I took a stab in the dark as to which Parisian airport was covered under their offer (don’t know if I got it right)… I had to go back to the original email twice to cut and paste their special codes… all to find out the best I could do from Seattle was $650 for a flight in January (I chose a time that I felt would be off-season to get the lowest fair).

Considering that I’ve flown to Paris in May for under $400, I find this a bit of a joke.

NWA, if you’re going to make an offer, make it easy and make it sincere.

Even better, a friend forwarded an offer from United to me for 2-for-1 flights to Hawaii. All the links were broken for the offer!
